This is definitely a masterpiece created by an unknown master artist. The mold he selected has fluted sides creating 6 lobes with a nice scalloped rim look. The large 14 3/4'' bowl sits on its own connected footed base. He has used a soft butter cream yellow at the base which blends into a wonderful green color as it climbs the sides and surrounds the design. The artist painted clusters of deep purple and golden grapes among green, gold and rust colored grape leaves and along the outside upper edge. He has accented this motif with shadowy images of both grapes and leaves giving the piece a dimensional look. He has also added brown vines going from cluster to cluster through the green leaves making it very realistic looking. The inside of the bowl is the soft buttery yellow color. On three of the inside lobes he has painted grouping of grapes in a gray color with raised relief gold leaves and grapes on top of them. It appears that one of the gold overlays has been repaired but it truly doesn’t take any of the beauty from this piece. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
