This is a beautifully vibrant hand-painted chrysanthemums jardinière of immense size. The top of the jardinière has a wide gold band, measuring 1", The beautifully executed mums of lavender, pink and mauve extend at one point into the gold band for added interest. They are complemented with the green and white of leaves, and accented with raised white enamel work and gold gilt. You can see each careful stroke that the artist used to create this masterpiece of mums. The artist did not sign this piece by it had to be painted by a skilled late 19th Century American china painter. There also are a few dabs of adhesive inside, probably used in days gone by to hold a flower frog in place. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
