Bold and large, these vase are 17.5" tall and 6" wide. The rich green garnitures look striking on a mantle or bookcase. The brass hardware is heavy and has good detail. The vases have gold paste on both sides for an added touch of elegance. Produced by Moriyama Pottery in the mid to late 1940's, these beauty's made their way to the USA in the mid 1960's by a collector-couple from Missouri while in Japan during an around the world trip. "Moriyama Pottery was located in Mori-Machi in Shizuoka Prefecture. Moriyama Pottery was established in 1911 by Hidekichi Nakamura who was taught pottery making by Seison Suzuki. There are currently four studios continuing the Moriyama tradition in and around Mori-machi and they are Seison, Seizon, Nakamura and Tame. " - researched reference books.
