This is a wonderful porcelain figurine made by the well know Volkstedt factory. The dancer is dressed in a flowing white gown with golden flowers accented and outlined in black. A sea foam green lining gives the gown a wonderful contrast. She has a bright yellow belt around her midriff. This dark haired beauty is dancing with a long lilac fabric to do her aerial dance. Her facial features have been very masterfully done showing great quality in the work. She is in wonderful condition except there has been a repair to one of the flowers on the base. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
The Volkstedt Porcelain factory produced a wide array of fine porcelain wares. These included candlesticks, steins, buttons, medals, and butter boxes to name just a few of their offerings. The factory is probably most famous, however, for its intricately detailed figurines. These figurines were often of women and men of nobility going about activities such as playing musical instruments, reading, courtship, and dancing.
