Haviland has created a beautiful mold when they created this one. It has a round base that comes up on the side with straight fluted or "Cannele Droit " design. The sides come up and the design goes from being bulbous to square. At each corner of the upper rim there is a looped handle. The handles at one time had gold vine accents but over years and years of use these are just very faint. The lid is square with a finial accented in gold. Soft gray and pink flowers decorate the pieces sides and lid. The finial has a minor chip, please see pictures. This is a very unique piece because of its shape but also because it has a British Registry Mark impressed on the bottom along with both Haviland backstamps. In order for Haviland to export their goods to England the white wear had to have the British registry stamp. There are no cracks, or crazing, manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
