Over one hundred years ago this was used as a soap or sponge dish. It may still be used for that but in todays age with everyone using diffusers in there home, I thought it would be wonderful to use this old girl for that. Since it has a hole in the side where you could pour in the good smelling stuff and holes on the top for the reeds it works great! Trust me no one else will have this kind!!!
It has a white background and has green transfers of branches and flowers. Mixed in with the branches are landscape scenes of houses, lakes and mountains. The dish has drainage holes on the upper portion and a hole at one end of the piece. A deep green band has been applied around the outer edge. Since a lot of us do not use normal soap anymore, I’m thinking that this could be used as a diffuser. If the sticks were cut down shorter they would go in the center hole and you can put the oil can go underneath. No one else would have one like it!! There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
