The mold used for this piece is phenomenal and really adds POP to this piece! It has a rococo scalloped edge with shell like raised relief almost an inch down from the rim towards the center of the plate. On the domed lid the raised design covers the top. The finial and raised portions on the plate and domed have been accented with gold. The background of this remarkable piece is a soft buttery yellow. Upon it the artist has painted deep purple and reddish purple blackberries on thorny stems. He has added green leaves that have a little red mixed in giving it a very realistic look. Amongst the berries he has added pink and white flowers with raised golden centers. The artist has used raised gold enamel to outline the flowers and to define the leaves. He has also applied gold with a sponge effect around the bottom of the dome. The center of the plated has a geometric design done in raised gold. The artist has initialed the bottom of this piece. This is a beautiful piece of art work! There is a small flake on the underside of the plate rim but no major chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
This definitely would be an asset to any Limoges collection!
