This fine bone china cup and saucer are decorated with the pattern “Glamis Thistle”. The thistle flowers have been done in a nice bright purple with yellow accents. The green leaves and stems have a mixture of dark and light greens. There are several thistle on one side and only one on the other side of the cup. The cup and saucer have a fine gilt line around the edges. There is an interesting inscription on the base of the saucer - “Glamis thistle found near Glamis Castle Home of Queen Elizabeth”. The pattern was designed by the artist Percy Curnock who was renowned for his painting of flowers and his signature is on both pieces. The pattern number is H4601 and R1938 is written under the inscription as is registered in Australia. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
