A rare and exquisite cup and saucer by Helena Wolfsohn in her classical scenes alternating19th Century styling. A four panel Watteau like classical scenes alternating design gives way to fine delicately designed gold gilt dividers. Her love of wonderful colors and intricate work is evident in the 2 beautiful courting scened panels of these pieces. The other 2 panels have a deep cobalt blue background with golden flowers painted upon them. The overall condition is very good, with just slight gold wear; please see pictures. Helena Wolfsohn owner/founder of the Helena Wolfsohn Porcelain Studios was established in1843 and operated until 1883. She was a skilled porcelain artist, purchasing porcelain blanks from well known Dresden potteries and using her artistic talents to hand paint items such as this dish / saucer. There are no cracks, chips; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
Measures: cup: 3 3/4" W with handle x 2" H saucer: 4 7/8" W x 1 1/8" H
