Very Nice Majolica Bowl Classical Series Decorated with Putti (Cherub) & Lion ~ Griffen, Smith, Hill ( Etruscan ) Prior to 1879 This bowl has a beautiful brown glaze on the rim with raised relief designs of leaves and flowers intertwined with vines. The center of this piece has a putti (mischievous cherub) that is riding a lion and they appear to be flying. The bowl has a hairline crack on down the side and center design is not very defined. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE MAJOLICA IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE. This would make a wonderful addition to any majolica collection.
Backstamp: GSM on top of each other. This mark was before they added Etruscan
Measures: 9 ¾" x 2"
