Wow the size of this bowl would hold enough for a family! This beautiful purple transfer is similar to many others of the period, the absence of human figures in this scene sets it apart from most of them. Roselle is a small Italian village, south of Florence, that would have been visited by many British tourists on their way to Rome. The Roselle pattern by John Meir & Sons was registered August 26, 1848. The pattern remained popular over several decades in the last half of the 19th century. . IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE IRONSTONE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
