The artist has made the colors on this bowl pop! He has chosen an unmarked blank with a scalloped edge and raised relief designs on the upper inside. He has painted wonderful ripe purple blackberries and unripe green berries amongst variegated green leaves. He has placed the motif on two sides of the bowl extending them outward towards the center. France has used blue, yellow green and rust as the background surrounding the fruit and leaves. There are some scuff marks on the bottom of the inside of the bowl, please see pictures. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
Robert W. France was the artist that created this piece. His work and Studio information can be found in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China by Alan B. Reed. France formed the France Studios at Chicago IL in 1906. His designs were largely conservative but the quality of his work is among the best of that period. He produced most of the studio's output himself, and he elected to sign his work simply hand-letter France, Robert W. France or France Studios on the base of his pieces.
