This pattern is done in a deep brown color on a cream background. It features two cartouches with a room significant to Shakespeare's memory: the rectangular cartouche is an image of his birthplace, while the round cartouche has an image of Anne Hathaway's (his wife) cottage. Foliage and flowers are placed around the cartouches. A beautiful geometric design makes up the rim pattern. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
PLEASE SEE OUR MATCHING PLATE PLT614, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PAIR THEY WOULD MAKE.
Backstamp: The mark is identical to the Wallis Gimson & Co mark but it has the initials M B & Co instead of the Gimson name. It is assumed that Gimson made wares for another company with the M B & Co initials. The registered number 7624 was first registered 1884 - which fits in with the dates for Gimson
