A lovely vintage Rookwood Pottery* vase c1930.
The vase has a leaf and berry around the top, it is partially obscured by the thick matte steely blue glaze. It is shown from all sides in the photos.
Measures 5" tall, 2&1/8" base, 1.75" opening at the top and a circumference of 11.5" around the widest part.
Excellent condition, no damage or visible wear.
Incised marks include the Rookwood logo, XXI and 2139 production number. The thick glaze can be seen on the bottom where it was ground down.
A charming Rookwood vase and nice addition to any pottery collection.
*Maira Longworth Nichols founded the Rookwood Pottery of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1880. In the early years the company produced toilet seats, pitchers, and gray stoneware but soon ventured into more artistically decorated wares. In 1899, Rookwood won a gold medal at the Universal Exposition in Paris, and went on to be one of the premier American Art Pottery companies.
