A fabulous quality antique Victorian sterling chatelaine pin.
It is all original and in excellent condition.
The pin is a beauty, an ornate fleur-de-lis with intricate detail and texture. It measures .75" by 2".
The five tools are wonderfully decorated with fancy repousse.
They are a lead pencil that opens when pulled, a notepad with celluloid pages, a pill box, a case for smelling salts or scent and a needle case.
They are attached to the sturdy chains with watch hooks for easy removal.
The pencil is 2.5", the pad is 2.5" by 2", the box has a diameter of 1.25", the scent bottle is 2", the needle case is 2.75".
From right to left the chains including the clasp are 2&1/8", 3", 3.75", 2.75", 2".
The box and notepad are engraved with the initials MH in fancy script. The notepad is engraved on the back with the date May 29, 1897.
All five pieces are clean and without damage or wear.
There is written documentation that the chatelaine was presented to the owner by The Devon Dramatic Association.
At least three of the tools are marked sterling and have hallmarks.
The piece has the original patina.
