Fabulous Victorian period cameo expertly carved from lava.
The carving is excellent with high relief and fine detail.
The high relief accommodates an almost full face rather than just a profile.
The woman is lovely with big eyes, full lips and fine nose, her hair is really amazing with curled tendrils and a headdress.
All of this detail is a cameo that measures .75" by .5"!
The frame is gold filled with graceful leaves and flowers, a preview of the coming early Art Nouveau style.
The frame is .25", the entire piece measures 1" by 1.25". It has the old C style catch.
The condition is excellent, there is no damage or wear. A real jewel of a hard to find lava cameo.
