An amazing antique jet bracelet from the Victorian period and a fabulous example of how an antique design can look totally current.
Natural jet* was very popular in Victorian England, It became very popular with the death of Queen Victoria's mother and her husband Albert in 1861.
This bracelet has a simple, bold design of curved rectangles alternating with half globes.
The domes have recessed ares on the underside that fit over the rectangular links.
Lack of ornate embellishment is more than compensated for by the play of light on the stark, reflective surface.
Excellent condition with a highly polished finish, a few very minor chips on the inside edges that are virtually invisible due to the jet black color and where they are on the bracelet.
The elastic has been replaced so it is strong and makes the bracelet very wearable.
Measures 7/8" wide, it will fit most size wrists.
The bracelet is incredible in that an antique design can look so totally stylish and modern!
A fabulous example of an antique Victorian jet* mourning bracelet c1880.
