A fine late 19th century/early 20th century Chinese cloisonne bowl with a dramatic dragon motif inside and around the outside.
Three yellow 5 toed dragons are chasing the flaming pearl of wisdom.
The lines of the dragons are skillfully rendered giving them a real sense of movement.
The dragon on the interior is fierce yet delightful. The dragon designs are intricately detailed. The dragons and the pearl are surrounded by stylized graphical depictions of clouds in fine wire. The metal work appears to be copper or bronze.
The outside of the bowl has two dragons facing each other with the pearl between them, the background is the same as the interior of the bowl.
The upper rim and base rim are heavy metal, the bottom is enameled in the traditional old blue. The upper and bottom rim of the bowl have additional intricate geometric designs framing the rim and the base.
Excellent condition, no damage or visible wear, no enamel loss.
Measures 8" in diameter and stands 2.5" high, the inside opening is 6" in diameter.
A fabulous Chinese cloisonne centerpiece bowl with a dynamic dragon motif.
