A wonderful antique pin made by J. Perryman, a fine jeweler established in Adelaide, Australia in 1872.
The pin features a long glass tube filled with “floating” opal chunks-the opals do not move around inside, they are somehow suspended in place.
The opals are quite colorful as Australia does have some of the best opals in the world!
The tube is held by 9k rose gold caps with a scalloped edge.
It has the original C catch and riveted tube pin stem.
Measures 2.5" by .25", total weight is 6 grams.
Marked 9c on one cap and Perryman on the other.
Excellent condition, no damage and minimal wear.
A rare Victorian piece with a stunning look that has survived intact since 1890!.
