An endearing Victorian 18k gold cameo ring with an extraordinary hard stone cameo.
The sardonyx stone is cream and light orange, beautifully carved with the image of a cherub beating a drum.
The depiction is lovely with fine detail, the image was difficult to photograph because of the shiny finish and reflection (the detail can be seen best when photographed at an angle).
This round cameo is set in a bezel trimmed with a raised wreath pattern.
The shank has a split band on the sides, an applied leaf embellishes the open space, the leaf is textured and engraved.
The inside of the setting is contoured so it is comfortable on the finger.
Ring size 6.5, the cameo measures 11/16" in diameter.
Unmarked, the gold tested 18k with acid, total weight is 5 grams.
Excellent condition, no damage or wear to the cameo or gold.
A delightful and unique rare antique hardstone cameo c1850-1890.
