A wonderful and rare antique Georgian engraved buckle ring beautifully made in 18k yellow gold.
A buckle symbolized fidelity in love, or loyalty in friendship through the joining of the two pieces.
The band has a raised buckle motif, the shank is hand engraved around the entire band.
Clearly marked inside with English hallmarks~ lion head for London, crown for 18k and date letter mark M for 1807. There is an initial makers mark that appears to me as ZT but I couldn't find the maker.
The overall condition is very good and though it does show signs of wear there is plenty of life left in this beauty. The engraving in the back is worn and one side of the buckle is shorter~ neither is distracting and the ring displays beautifully on the finger.
Ring size 6.25", the ring measures .25" at the buckle and keeper, the rest of the shank is 3/16", total weight is 2.5 grams.
The ring comes in its original round box with the London address inside the top.
A very beautiful and rare 18k yellow gold ring from the Georgian period c1807.
