An elegant Edwardian sterling sash ornament brooch beautifully enameled in pale mint green.
The buckle design was a very popular motif in both Victorian and Edwardian jewelry.
The rectangular pin has an engine turned pattern on the silver that is seen through the translucent guilloche enamel.
A thin border of sterling frames the enamel on both the inside and outside edges, a soft gold wash covers all but the 'tongue'.
The brooch is domed for comfort as it was usually worn at the waist like a buckle to secure a length of material.
The tongue is purely ornamental and securely supported and enforced, the pin has a heavy duty pin stem and a C clasp.
Measures 2&3/8" by 1.75", marked Sterling on the back.
Total weight is 25 grams.
Excellent condition, no damage or visible wear, the enamel is perfect.
This style brooch works really well for closing a heavy sweater, cloak or jacket.
A lovely antique sash ornament brooch very well made and perfectly preserved.
