A fabulous Victorian sterling pin with vibrant red paste stones and small hanging ones.
The bar has three large paste stones with small ones between them and five drops with two small stones in two sizes.
The paste stones are a rich red color with raspberry undertones, the small stones are the same color though they appear more pink in the photos.
All the stones are set with prongs, the large stones have eight prongs, the small have four.
The open back settings allow the the light through from all angles.
Very well made and in excellent condition, no damage and minimal wear, nice oxidized patina on the silver. I adjusted the prong that was pulled away from the center stone.
Measures 1&3/8" by 5/8", the large stones are 8mm, the small ones are 2mm and 3mm. The drops alone are .25" long.
Marked in several places H S and c c, there is another illegible mark on the side of the clasp. The silver tested sterling with acid.
It closes with a C clasp and hinged tube pin stem.
A really lovely Victorian sterling and red paste pin c1870-1890.
