An endearing antique pin beautifully made in 14k yellow gold, enamel and a sparkling mine cut diamond.
These small pins were known as "lace pins" and were not just ornamental, they were used to hold something in place-to confine a length of lace at the neckline or at the throat, sometimes to attach drapery at the shoulder. They often had sentimental meaning, and frequently classified as sentimental jewelry. The forget-me-not in this pin is a perfect example.
This small beauty has a beautiful sculptural design of four entwined circles that create a great optical effect.
The circles are thick on the outer edge of the pin and narrow towards the center.
The circles are domed and have a beaded outer edge, the widest part of each circle has a raised enamel design of forget-me-nots- two white flowers with a blue one between them, each blue flower has two white leaves.
The background of the circles have a distinct textured finish, a small sparkling mine cut diamond is set in the center where the four circles meet.
Very well made and in excellent condition, the only wear is to one white leaf that is visible with magnification and is no distraction.
Measures 7/8" square, it has a wide C clasp marked 14k, total weight is 3 grams.
So much fine detail in such a petite pin!
