An interesting old sterling medallion that was most likely a fob ornament.
The large medallion is from the High School of Commerce and is dated 1911.
The program was started in 1898 and quickly outgrew the school's limited space. In 1910 it moved to another location. By 1915 the program was such a success a new school was built to accommodate the large number of students interested in pursuing a commercial education.
This fob medallion is a beauty with history.
The medal has a detailed raised depiction of a sailing ship. The border includes the title with a date of 1911.
It measures 1&3/8" in diameter, total length including the heavy ring is 2&3/8".
Marked sterling with an N in a crest hallmark, total weight is 20.4 grams.
A great antique collectible sterling fob medallion.
