A fabulous antique early Victorian memorial ring beautifully made in 15k rose gold.
The front of the ring has a sweet flower with seed pearl petals and an emerald center.
The sides of the flower has textured hearts for leaves, the shank has a band of tightly woven hair set into the gold shank, the outside edges are gold.
The pearls are set into gold 'boxes', the pale emerald is square.
Ring size 7, the flower has a diameter of 5/16", the flower and hearts span .75" across the band, the hearts are 3/16" by .25", the shank is 4mm wide (5/32").
Unmarked the ring tested a very strong 15k, possibly a bit higher, total weight is 2.5 grams.
Excellent antique condition for its age and materials. The hair is all in tact, there is no damage and minimal wear. The ring has been sized up....I can't imagine how this was done, it is an early sizing perhaps when it was handed done through the family. It is visible on the inside, there is a slight color difference as well as very thin lines on the outside of the shank. The inside of course is not visible when worn, the lines are not at all noticeable except under very close inspection.
An amazing example of Victorian mourning jewelry c1860-70.
