A sweet antique gold top pin from the late Victorian or early Edwardian period.
The petite pin was most often a "lace pin" used to hold something in place-to confine a length of lace at the neckline or at the throat, sometimes to attach drapery at the shoulder. They often had sentimental meaning.
In this case the pin has an ornamental flower set with a faceted red stone.
The oval frame has a 10k rose gold top, the flower and leaves have a yellow gold top with a textured finish, the stone is set with prongs in the center of the flower.
Measures 1&1/16" by 5/8", the stone is 2mm.
Excellent condition, no damage and minimal wear commensurate with age. It has the old style safety catch that works in reverse.
A darling antique Victorian lace pin with a delicate floral centerpiece.
