A delicate Art Deco 14k white gold filigree bar pin with an amethyst in the center.
This diminutive style was most often a "lace pin", it was used to hold something in place- to confine a length of lace at the neckline or at the throat, sometimes to attach drapery at the shoulder. They often had sentimental meaning.
The top of the pin is white gold, it has a very fine embossed frame, the filigree is millegrained.
The square cut faceted amethyst is set in a bezel with the points at the poles, the filigree frames the stone.
The back of the pin including the findings are yellow gold, it is marked 14k on the clasp..
Measures 15/16" by 7/16", the amethyst is 3mm square.
Excellent condition, no damage or visible wear.
A lovely feminine Art Deco bar pin c1910-20s.
