A beautiful Victorian button with a wonderful design that incorporates steel, brass and wood.
The four four or five piece construction has a steel rim framing a brass escutcheon with a wood background and a cut steel center in the shape of a six pointed star.
The escutcheon has a textured pattern of diamonds alternating with circles that have a linear texture.
The blackened back has a raised wire shank.
Measures just shy of 15/16" in diameter, the star shaped steel is 5/16" (7mm).
Overall very good condition, there is a slight darkening on a couple of the diamonds and a very minor dent to the steel rim neither of which detract significantly.
An interesting antique button with a great use of different materials.
