A wonderful 19th century brass sewing needle case.
Tastefully ornate with delicate scrolls, curls and a raised shield with a fleur-de-lis, the case is as functional as it is beautiful.
The scalloped edge top opens to reveal four rows of compartments that are raised by moving the small knobs on the bottom of both sides- each knob controls two holders.
Both sides have the same ornamentation and are inscribed "QUADRUPLE GOLDEN CASKET PATENTED - C & J MORTON - CUTLERS - 39 CHEAPSIDE".
Measures 2.75" by 1.25".
Excellent condition, no damage and minimal wear, rich brass patina.
Truly an elegant way to store your needles, a wonderful antique needle casket in great working condition.
