A lovely Victorian sterling handcrafted aesthetic movement pin.
The center has a raised oval with an engraved floral design, the flowers are applied silver.
Twisted wire frames the floral design, a raised border frames the twisted wire.
The outer edge is ornate, it has a flat surface with an applied design of diamonds alternating with dots.
The pin has a beaded edge of individually applied beads.
It has an old C style catch and tube pin stem, the pin stem is brass. It exceeds the length of the pin-a testament to its age.
Measures 1&3/8" by 1&5/8", total weight is 4.8 grams.
There are two illegible hallmarks, the pin is not marked for silver content and tested sterling with acid.
Excellent antique condition, there are two small holes where the engraving pierced the silver and one where the flat outer rim meets the plain raised border. These are all original to the making of the piece and can only be seen under close inspection and they are not visible when worn.
An interesting and beautiful handcrafted aesthetic movement sterling pin c1870-80s.
