An outstanding Celtic sterling pin with a gorgeous large moss agate cabochon.
The pin has a heavy sterling frame of dimensional thistles alternating with fleur-de-lis.
Two very prominent symbols in Scottish history, the thistle is the national emblem of Scotland, the fleur-de-lis appears on the Royal coat of arms of Scotland.
The center of the pin has a wonderful bezel set moss agate cab with beautiful markings.
The stone measures .75" in diameter and .25" high, the diameter of the pin is 1.5".
It is in excellent condition, no damage or wear, safety catch is secure.
Lovely warm patina has been left unpolished.
Signed Iona with the co-joined JH hallmark of John Hart and the thistle (sterling), castle (Edinburgh) and letter mark which I can't read but believe the date to be 1950.
A very fine example of John Hart (senior) Celtic sterling jewelry.
