A rare period Dutch Arts & Crafts brooch in a shield style design from the Amsterdam School.
Beautifully handmade in a rounded triangular shape with subtle convex surface.
It features domed cutout shapes and spirals of beaded wire applied to the hammered surface.
A striped agate set with multiple prongs and framed with beaded wire is set in the center, the edge has two decorative crimps on each side of the triangle.
It retains the original pin and old wide C catch.
Measures 2" by 1&7/8", total weight is 15.7 grams.
Marked with a script letter Dutch hallmark (J or T) as well as a maker's signature that begins GM- I think there is a third character but it is illegible.
Excellent condition, no damage or visible wear.
A wonderful and rare bold Arts & Crafts period Dutch sterling pin c1905-1910.
