A charming antique Victorian 14k rose gold "honeymoon"* pin c1880-1900.
Beautifully made with precision, a spray of three forget-me-nots lay on the center of the crescent.
The dimensional flowers are delicately enameled in pale blue with subtle mauve line detail in the center of each petal, a pegged pearl is set in the center of each one. The three stems are bound with a twisted wire.
The pin measures 1" by .5" and weighs 1.8 grams.
Excellent, very clean, near mint condition, no damage or visible wear, dark patina on the gold.
Marked 14k on the wide C clasp with a hallmark that looks like the astrological sign for Aries, this mark of a "umbrella" with double curved handle was first used to mark items in 1896 by Krementz.
A really sweet and sentimental Victorian Art Nouveau 'honeymoon' pin.

*The honeymoon pin was a wedding custom in which a new groom presented his bride with a pin that was symbolic of their union. The crescent symbolized the 'moon' and flowers that symbolized nectar- the 'honey' portion of the word.
