An extraordinary example of a fine quality Art Nouveau watch pin beautifully crafted in 14k yellow gold.
The center has an expertly enameled profile of a lovely young woman in a diadem, a demantoid (green) garnet hangs from it.
The woman's face has a translucent pale enamel with carefully painted features-a slight blush to the cheeks, rosy lips and finely painted lips, eyes, eyeliner and brow.
Her long hair falls beyond the circle to the mine cut diamond at the bottom.
A second mine cut diamond is prong set at the top of the circle.
The woman is framed with an interwoven swirling ribbon like design incised with a fine line texture.
The frame has graceful flowing lines giving the piece more dimension.
The pin is accented with three graduated seed pearls peg set on the bottom half of the circle.
Excellent, very clean condition, no damage or visible wear.
Measures 1&1/8" by 7/8", the circle has diameter .5", total weight is 4.9 grams.
It has the old wide clasp marked 14k, it also has a watch hook that was used to attach a locket, charm or jewel as well as a watch.
It is signed with a maker on the pin stem, it is visible in the photo though I can't be sure....I believe it reads Bissinger or maybe Levinger & Bissenger.
A very fine quality antique Art Nouveau watch pin c1880-1900.
