A fabulous Victorian sterling picture frame made by Unger Brothers c1880-1900.
The rectangular frame is beautifully etched with a fluid Art Nouveau foliate design that includes fruit.
The fine details in the leaves and flowers are hand engraved, the background has a fine textured finish which accentuates the graceful floral.
The top has a clean cartouche that is suitable for engraving.
The frame holds a photo of a beautiful young woman with long side curls, she is wearing a white lace blouse.
The frame measures 4&3/8" by 3&3/8", it holds a photo 2.5" by 3.5".
It has a green velvet insert, the silk ribbon is no longer attached, a piece of tape secures the stand that holds the frame upright.
The frame is in excellent condition, beautiful patina with great contrast and no damage. It is tarnished on the sides but can be polished if desired, the velvet shows wear along the edges from the 100+ years of age, no distraction.
The Unger Brothers logo is stamped around the edge along with STERLING and the number 02601.
A wonderful example of the fine quality of Unger Brothers sterling and the beauty of Art Nouveau design.
