Edwardian 14k White Gold Black & White Stone Cameo

A fine quality antique hardstone* cameo from the late Edwardian period.

The layered stone is onyx, it is expertly carved with clean, crisp lines so that the raised figure is matte white and the background is very shiny black.

Fabulous detail with high relief, the workmanship is precise and top quality in both the cameo and engraved frame.

The stone is such that the black can be seen through the white stone in areas that have lower relief, though subtle, it gives the piece more dimension.

Set in a millegrain edge bezel, the dramatic cameo is framed with white gold frame that has a gorgeous hand engraved foliate design.

The piece has pin findings, it looks like a loop was added and subsequently removed.

Measures 1.75" by 1&3/8", the frame is 3/16" wide, the cameo is 1&3/8" by 1", total weight is 13.8 grams.

Excellent condition, no damage or visible wear, secure locking safety clasp that works in reverse.

The setting is marked 14k on the back.
