A wonderful example of shell art jewelry that was so popular in the 1940s-50s.
The large brooch is made from real shells arranged to form a large chrysanthemum type flower.
The "petals" are single shells cemented to a plastic base and painted a deep magenta.
The center (stigma) is made of from tiny shells painted yellow.
Spiky shells painted iridescent green represent the leaves.
A one piece finding with a secure safety catch is cemented to the back.
The pin measures 3.5" by 3.25".
