Antique Snake Ring 18K Yellow Gold Hallmarked

Antique snake ring, 18k yellow gold with a dark red ruby set in the snake's head. Ring coils around twice with a third very slender indication of a tail end on one side. The body of the snake coming off the head is lightly etched to resemble scales. There is a hallmark along with the maker's initials T & S on the shank. It was given to me in a brown velvet plush box reading L & C Mayers Co. Fifth Avenue New York. I don't know if it is an original box to the ring.

Ring is a size 8 1/4 to 8 1/2. Ruby is 5mm diameter, weight is 4.47 grams. There is what appears to be a very tiny spot of a silver color solder on the inside of ring at the very tip of the tail.
