Antique 18k snake ring with bezel set ruby in the form of a snake coils around twice with a third very slender indication of the tail end on one side. The body of the snake coming off the head is lightly engraved to resemble scales. Mark for Birmingham 18k gold with maker's initials T & S on the shank. It did come with a brown velvet plush box - I don't know if it is original to the ring - indicating L & C Mayers Co Fifth Avenue New York. Ring is a size 8.25. Ruby is 5mm diameter or about 1/2 carat. Ring is 6mm at widest tapering to 4mm. Weight 4.2 grams. There is an irregularity on closeup photo of the mark and I cannot ascertain whether this is the point of joining for the tip of the tail or a repair.
