Bottle or container of a thin wood heavily coated in a black lacquer and elaborately hand painted in a folk or perhaps rosemaling style, maybe Pennsylvania Dutch? It is done in brick red, dusty pink, tan and cream with floral centers and extensive border designs on black. Looking into the top, it appears to be a thin wood with a very thick layer of paint. The top is either wood or a very fine cork and is marked A7, see photographs. Measures about 7 3/4 inches tall. Very good condition, appears to have never been used, all clean inside. The lid is a bit difficult to twist off, probably due to expansion. Very unusual item.
