The most charming and probably irreplaceable Victorian era water color and gouache painting of two little girls, one in pink and one in blue, on silk. The girl with the dark hair in blue is cuddling up to the blonde, curly headed little girl in pink, who is holding her finger to a dimple. There is a painted ribbon in heart shape around the two. Done on an silk fabric with an aged peach tone beige surrounded by what appears to be a gilt gold color faux mat painted by hand. Signed under the girl in pink H. 94 in black ink. Measures 9 1/2 inches wide by 10 3/8 inches tall. The wood frame is a dead gold color typical of aged gold paint and shows age although firmly intact. There are some small light tears in the fabric around the edge of the faux mat but overall very good color with no fading.
