Beautiful example of porcelain Japanese satsuma lidded vase or jar. The artwork on this piece is exceptionally detailed with lots of gorgeous coloring and especially lots of gilt gold accents. The patterns are very complicated and many feature raised enamel or moriage type work. Four panels, each depicting a different scene - one with a man and woman kneeling, one with two men kneeling, another with two women and lastly two more men. All are very elaborately done. The jar is indented on each corner, all featuring different patterns and colors.
Measures about 6 inches tall by 5 inches wide. The trim is all there, no wear at all. One flaw is a hairline crack on the lid which does all so very faintly goes through across top although not visible unless examined closely.
Truly a magnificent piece.
