Vintage Royal Copenhagen Blue Flowers Demitasse Set
This is the ever popular Royal Copenhagen Blue Flowers pattern, Number 10, shape 8046. Very pretty blue and white demitasse set with the Braid edge. The edging on the saucer covers 1/2" wide all the way around the topside and edges the outside of the cup for 1/2" wide all around the top. The Blue Flowers pattern was manufactured for a long run from 1780 - 2012, 232 years. Now discontinued, the markings indicate this cup was manufactured in 1957 and the saucer is from 1956. During the late 1950's this set may have also been known as an Espresso set or an After Dinner set. An Espresso set would have been highly likely.
This set was perhaps originally purchased at the factory as both pieces are marked as "seconds". This is done by subtly scratching through the 3 wavy blue lines with a diamond cutter. A scratch from the diamond cutter is extremely hard to see but can be felt with a fingernail. I see nothing to detract from the beauty of this little blue and white porcelain set. There are no chips, scratches, off colors, stains, cracks, or repairs. I can't imagine what might have made this lovely set a second, but I see nothing to detract from its appeal.
The cup size is 2-1/4" Tall. The opening is 2-7/16" The saucer size is 4-1/2".
The information above was taken from several internet sites. I can pass this info along if anyone is interested.
