For your consideration, a 1930's Jeannette Glass, Iridescent, Carnival, Marigold Ashtray - Match Holder - Cigarette Snuffer

Vintage iridescent ashtray with the starred bottom. Jeannette Glass Company made several versions of this shape ashtray and they all have starred bottoms but the tops and the center match holders and snuffers vary. The tray is large enough to accommodate cigars and the center will hold a standard small size box of matches which will slip over the outside of the center rectangular match box holder and will leave the box open at the top. The recessed area of the center might be used for snuffing cigarettes.

I am also listing three other Jeannette Glass Carnival Marigold ashtrays today and they are all made different than this one but they are all the same size. They are being offered for sale separately but, the last picture shown in my listing show all four together so you can see the differences in the way they are made.

If you are a collector of Smoking memorabilia or a Tobacciana collector, check us out. Searching on Jeannette Glass Marigold should show these four plus I have other glass ash receptacles and sets available for sale by other makers.

Pre-owned: There are several manufacturing flaws in this piece but, no chips, cracks, nicks, scratches, stains, or fading of the iridescence. Some bottom wear is normal. The iridescence is light in two spots and there are some surface inclusions and mold imperfections. I have tried to picture the flaws.

There are usual manufacturing flaws you will find on mass produced glass. Inclusions such as straw marks, bubbles, lines, mold roughness......etc. Jeannette Glass was one of the first makers to automate their manufacturing and was making machine made glass items in 1924. By 1927 they had ceased to use any hand operations.

SIZE: 5 3/4" diameter. Approximately 3/4" Tall at edge.
