Mayer China - Mid-Century Modern - Atomic Starburst - Square - Soup - Salad - Serving Bowl
This nice Atomic Starburst restaurant ware bowl is pre-owned but has no chips, cracks, stains, or repairs. It was used but not abused, only very light utensil marks. The decorative black and pink "stars" are glazed over so they will never fade. There is a light manufacturing glaze skip on one side near one of the black stars but it would not show up in a picture. It is only visible under certain light. The bottom stamp was used from 1923 - 1984. According to the stamp, this piece was made by Mayer China Co., in the second quarter of 1962.
The closest pattern name I can come up with for this pattern is MYR30, which is the same starburst pattern, only with a round shape, and with tan and turquoise stars. Mayer China made several different square shaped bowls. Make sure this one is the shape you want or need before you buy.
It measures 7-1/8" X 7-1/8" square and is 2-1/2" Tall. It is quite heavy for its size, weighing one pound, three ounces. It would hold from 3 to 4 cups of any cooked vegetable. The shipping weight will be two pounds.
Serving bowls of this size in restaurant ware are hard to come by. Don't let this one get away!
