1930's Vintage MELJAX Beater Jar Only
Vintage Art Deco kitchen mayo maker three footed cup. It was made by the Meljax Manufacturing Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. Manufacturing information is embossed (raised) on the inside bottom of the glass. It appears the number of the glass unit is E50 and the Patent Number is 1,935,857. It was Patented November 21, 1933.
The glass measuring container measures graduated amounts marked up to 2 cups, 16 ounces, or 1 pint. It has three glass feet. I believe it originally came with an Electromix electric mixer - cream whipper and drink mixer that sat on the top. This offering is only for the glass container. Other hand mixers with a guard that doesn't let the beaters fall into the jar can be used with this jar.
Here are the measurements: 4-3/4" Tall X 4-5/8" Outside Diameter. If you want to put this to use and have a hand beater, the kind that has a cover attached, it should reach over the 4-5/8" OD.
The mixer jar is in wonderful shape for a used, vintage utilitarian glass item. (Over 80 years old) There is one small ding to the outside top rim. (pictured and noted) No other damage to report that I can see, no cracks, stains, or repairs.
Nice jar to collect, use, or re-purpose as a by-gone style for almost anything in the kitchen like tea bags, kosher salt by the stove, bread-sticks, straws.......etc.
