Fenton Iridized Rosalene Tulip Basket - 95th Anniversary 2000 - Glass Legacy Collection - Signed - QVC SPECIAL
Offering Iridized Rosalene Tulip basket signed by Bill Fenton. And, what a beauty this is. It is Fenton number CV282 TR and the QVC number was C99031. This was an exclusive QVC issue in April, 2000, the second issue of seven that year in the Glass Legacy Collection. The collection consisted of seven individual baskets issued that year to show the best skills of hand made glass decorated baskets. They were offered at different times, one in January, this one in April, and one in each of the following months; June, August, October, November, and December.
The shape is so graceful with the low and elongated ribbed footed bowl with the white ribbon edge and the white square twisted handle. The basket was lightly iridized before any decoration and this gives it a soft shimmer that feels lightly satinized. The handle was hand applied and finished by handler Jim Ralston, and the Tulip decoration was hand painted by S. Smith aka Su Lu Smith.
The basket is free from any damage. QVC only offered First Quality Fenton pieces and this is no exception.
The size measures 8-1/2" across the long size of the basket bowl and it is 6-1/2" wide. To the top of the handle is approximately 9". The basket is not small and not too large. It would fit easily in a 10" X 10" space. It is rather heavy for its size, weighing in at two pounds. It will be shipped in a 12" x 12" reinforced box.
