Vintage Farber Brothers Chrome Compote With Cambridge Glass or Morgantown Glass Works Amber Insert
#5569 Compote - Cambridge Glass Co., and/or Morgantown Glass Works. The glass inserts were made to be popped out for cleaning and/or replacement if one broke. Amber, Amethyst and Dark Emerald are the only colors listed in the original catalogs. Due to exchanging and replacement of inserts other colors may be found. The holder was only offered in chrome. This dates to the late 1940's, and was manufactured until 1965.
Cambridge Glass Co., was out of business by 1958 and the glass molds were transferred to Morgantown Glass Works. They supplied inserts in Amber, Amethyst and Emerald from the late 1950's until 1965 when Farber Bros ceased making the holders. Morgantown was also supplied with the Cambridge glass formula to make the correct colors. Morgantown was so proficient at making the replacement inserts, there is virtually no difference between the Morgantown and the Cambridge glass pieces.

If you are a Farber Ware collector, the above book is an excellent reference. It is out of print but I highly recommend it, if one can be found.
