Here is a Heisey glass basket to please. Solid, substantial, and stately. The pressed shape is called Hexagon Picket No. 458, made from 1915 until 1933. It is embellished with No. 604 Ornate Sprig Cutting and further decorated with Cut Daisies on each corner. Very pretty.
The size is listed as 8" in my Heisey book, "Heisey Glass 1896-1957", page 143. That is measured from point to point across the length of the basket. The width is 5-1/4". From the basket bottom to the top of the handle is approximately 10-1/2". The basket body is 4-1/2" deep on the inside. The molded handle is also Hexagon shaped.
There is shelf wear on the polished bottom as would be expected. There is a small spot along the rim edge near a point that appears to be a manufacturing flaw of a tiny bubble of glass that popped when the basket was pulled from the mold. I had to use a loupe to see it clearly.
The H in a diamond Heisey mark is on the inside bottom of the basket. It is shown in the last picture.
This is a super nice glass basket. I am sure it will not disappoint.
Thanks for looking, enjoy your day!
